I’ve heard that compost tea can be a great fertilizer for cannabis plants, but I’m not sure if it’s safe to use. Can anyone tell me if this is a safe option, and if so, how to use it effectively?

The debate over whether compost tea is an effective and safe fertilizer for cannabis plants has been going on for some time, but the general consensus is that it is a good option for those looking for an organic, sustainable fertilizer for their grow. Compost tea is essentially made by ‘brewing’ compost in water, releasing all the beneficial microbes and minerals that were stored in the compost. These beneficial nutrients are then made available to the plant, allowing it to naturally thrive in the garden.
One of the advantages of using compost tea instead of chemical fertilizers is that it is much safer and more natural, drastically reducing the chances of chemicals getting into the soil or plant, as well as potentially harming the environment. Compost tea is also very economical as compost can be gotten for quite cheap/found for free and will last a fairly long time.
Making compost tea is actually quite simple; all you need is some good quality compost, a five-gallon bucket, a pump, and some large cheesecloth or burlap sack material. Start by filling the bucket half way with the compost and then fill it the rest of the way up with water. Make sure that the water is not overly chlorinated (this can affect the microbial activity of the tea) and if possible, let the water sit for a few days to reduce chlorine even more.
Once the bucket is filled and the water is ready, use the pump with an air stone to aerate the tea for about fifteen minutes. This will kick-start the microbial activity and get the teas brewing. Depending on the size of the bucket, you can expect to get a few gallons of tea over the course of a few days. Once the tea is done brewing, it’s ready to be used! It is best to apply the tea to the roots every two weeks, or you can use it as a foliar spray every 3-4 days as well.
Compost tea can be a great fertilizing option for cannabis, as it provides all the necessary nutrients and minerals to give your plants a boost. It is also much safer than chemical fertilizers, reducing the chances of potentially damaging your plants and harmfully affecting the environment. Additionally, compost tea is incredibly easy to make and the ingredients are usually very affordable, making it an economical option for those wanting a healthier, more sustainable fertilizer for their plants. Whether you’re growing indoors or outdoors, compost tea can be a great option for those looking to keep their plants healthy and lush.
